Police have arrested two rookie airport security personnel for allegedly extorting money from drivers picking up passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2.
Senior Supt. Chiquito Malayo, head of the Counter-Intelligence Task Force (CITF), said the operation stemmed from a text message they received about the illegal activities of the two suspects.
He identified them as Airport Police Officer 1 Pablo Atayde Jr. and Airport Police Officer 1 Danilo Levite Jr. The two are not members of the PNP.
“They were arrested after receiving the marked money given by our CITF operative who posed as a driver,” said Malayo.
He said the operation occurred at around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the NAIA Terminal 2.
Criminal charges were already filed against the suspects.
The CITF was created in February last year to run after erring policemen following the controversial kidnap-slay of South Korean executive Jee Ick Joo.
Since then, almost 100 people have already been arrested, most of them policemen and cases involving extortion.
