The first day of the campaign period for the May 14 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections last Friday was peaceful, the Philippine National Police said yesterday.
“The first day of the campaign period for the barangay and SK Elections is generally peaceful with no significant election campaign related incident recorded,” said Chief Supt. John Bulalacao, PNP spokesperson.
However, Bulalacao said the PNP has intensified the monitoring of the remaining campaign days amid threats of violence among the candidates and their supporters.
