Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Commissioner Ramon “El Presidente” Fernandez will lead today’s opening ceremony of the Marajaw Basketball League (MBL) at the Surigao del Norte provincial gymnasium in Surigao City.
Surigao del Norte 1st District Rep. Francisco Jose Matugas II said the Marajaw Basketball League is part of the provincial sports tourism and sports “Kontra Droga” programs, and is in line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign to eradicate illegal drugs in the country, particularly among the youth.
Matugas said the presence of Fernandez, a four-time PBA Most Valuable Player, will lend the much-needed boost to Marajaw’s aim of motivating the grassroots skills development in the various localities of Surigao del Norte.
“In motivating their skills development, our youth will have something to look forward to when they focus themselves to play the game they love. MBL is just the start,” the legislator from Siargao, Surigao said.
