COMEDIC MARICEL BACK: Glad to hear that Maricel Soriano is back with several new projects, both for the small and big
Maricel, one of the biggest stars of the 80s and 90s, excels in both comedy and drama, an award-winning actress in both genres. She plays a special guest role in “My Two Mommies” and is also appearing as one of the leads in “The General’s Daughter,” a new teleserye airing soon on ABS-CBN.
The veteran actress said she took on the featured role in “My Two Mommies” in deference to Mother Lily Monteverde.
“How can I say ‘No’ to Mother,” she was quoted recently.
Maricel is one of the original Regal Babies launched to stardom in 1980 in a blockbuster film called “Underage.” The Joey Gosiengfiao film costarred Snooky Serna and Dina Bonnevie.
Following “My Two Mommies,” Regal is preparing next another film with Maricel in the key role.

DRAMA COMEDY: Regal Entertainment is reviving an old tradition in screening a special family-oriented film each Mother’s Day, which this year falls on May 12.
“My 2 Mommies,” starring primarily Paolo Ballesteros and Solenn Heussaff, is a touching movie that celebrates motherhood. Its director, Eric Quizon, says the film proves that more than gender, being a mother is all about a parent’s unconditional love for his or her child.
The film earned an A rating from the Cinema Evaluation Board.
“My 2 Mommies” tells the story of Manu (Paolo), a discreet gay guy, with a successful career but is not out to his family.
Furthermore, he is in a same-sex relationship (with Joem Bascon) that he also keeps under the radar.
But his life takes a pivotal turn when Monique, a woman from his past, shows up one day and admits to him that they have a seven-year-old son.
Is Manu prepared to reveal to his kid that his dad is also a “mommy?”
Maricel plays Paolo’s mother in “My Two Mommies,” described by its director as timely as it tackles an issue that happens in real life. Now showing.
