In an effort to boost the country’s sports education, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) will be teaming up with the United States Sports Academy (USSA) for a nine-month scholarship program.
The program, which will run from July until April next year, offer courses in International Diploma on Sports Management, International Diploma on Sports Coaching, and International Diploma on Physical Education and Sports Coaching.
“This program will strengthen the competencies of our sports managers and coaches in becoming more competitive globally,” said Prof. Henry Daut, Deputy Director for Grassroots Sports Development Program.
Last month, USSA President and CEO Dr. TJ Rosandich signed an agreement with PSC Chairman William “Butch” Ramirez to help enhance the country’s national sports program.
The USSA will provide curriculum and professors for the scholarship program, while the PSC will supply the venue and equipment needed.
One hundred students are being targeted for the program, with 20 slots allocated for PSC middle and top managers, 40 for the Philippine Olympic Committee leaders, National Sports Association officers and coaches, 20 for state colleges and universities nationwide, 10 for the Department of Education, and 10 for private colleges and universities.
