Iloilo City – Four Philippine National Police (PNP) officers were wounded after two people resisted arrest in Cauyan town, Negros Occidental province.
The Police Regional Office (PRO-6) identified the wounded as Police Officer 3 Reynaldo Bauden Jr., Senior Police Officer 2 Bryan Tabon, Police Officer 2 Rolando Algje Prieto, and Police Officer 1 Gary Norico.
The four cops belong to the Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company. They were backing the operation of the PNP’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) last Thursday.
The police were supposed to serve the warrant of arrest to suspects Rodel Taquiso and Salem Teodosio for violating the Comprehensive Firearms And Ammunition Regulation Act.
Instead of going with the police, the duo and their companions engaged the cops in a shootout for almost an hour.
Police recovered two hand grenades, three shotguns, a .45-caliber pistol, and several ammunition.
