The net worth of Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales has increased by over P17 million since she assumed the post in 2011.
Morales declared a net worth of P58,527,347.84 million as of Dec. 31, 2017 in her 2017 Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth, which is P4.4 million higher compared to her P54.13-million net worth in 2016.
She declared a net worth of P40.749 million when she started her term.
Morales’ personal properties went up by P9.936 million in seven years.
She indicated two vehicles – a car acquired in 2003 valued at P390,000 and a van bought in 2011 worth P132,850.
Her jewelry, books, furniture, antiques, and silveries, acquired from 1972 to now, are worth P3.3 million while her cash on hand and cash investments, including retirement benefits from the Supreme Court Savings and Loan Association and other cooperatives, total P5,028,210.84.
Her real properties include two residential lots in Muntinlupa City and a memorial lot in Parañaque City totaling P1,201,500.
Her only liability is P88,000, a personal item from a posh department store.
She also disclosed that she has three relatives working in government.
They are her son Eugenio Morales III, a legal examiner in the Register of Deeds, Muntinlupa; her brother, Emmanuel Carpio, presiding judge of Davao City Regional Trial Court Branch 16, and her nephew, Waldo Carpio, an assistant secretary of the Department of Agriculture.
