Malacañang revealed yesterday that President Duterte is pleased by the way Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat is dealing with supposed corruption at the Department of Tourism.
“She was appointed with the express mandate to do good and to fight corruption, and she’s doing just that.
President’s very pleased,” Roque said.
Roque added that Malacanang supports Puyat’s move to create a new team at the DoT. “Very supportive. Of course, all Cabinet Secretaries, especially those who had just been appointed, enjoy full trust and confidence of the President, and we would want them to have a fresh start, and we would want them to pick their own management team so that they can be the most effective in their jobs,” Roque said.
Duterte appointed Puyat as DoT Secretary following the resignation of Wanda Teo due to the anomalous P60-million advertisement deal between the DoT and government network PTV-4.
Puyat has expressed shock over the irregularities in the projects promoted by the previous leadership at the DoT.
