The Philippine National Police said yesterday that it is ready to detain Ozamiz City Councilor Ricardo “Ardot” Parojinog in Camp Crame, Quezon City but only after he has resolved the charges he is facing overseas.
Chief Supt. John Bulalacao, PNP spokesperson, said it would depend on the police in Taiwan whether or not they would deport Parojinog back to the Philippines or let him stand trial there.
“We are not sure when he will arrive here in the country because there is a process that has to be followed in his deportation. Based on the reports, he violated immigration law in Taiwan so it is likely that there will be an investigation and if he needs to be detained, he will probably be detained there,” Bulalacao said.
However, Bulalacao said the doors of the detention facility of Camp Crame are open to the apprehended councilor “temporarily” and a unit is being prepared to escort him from Taiwan back to the Philippines.
“If in case he is brought back here in the Philippines, we can accommodate him temporarily at Camp Crame but the thing is, the warrant issued against him must be sent back to the court of origin and that is in Taiwan,” he explained.
