Weather forecasters are monitoring two low pressure areas inside the country’s area of responsibility, which could trigger flash floods or landslides over Palawan and Mindanao over the weekend.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration located one of the LPA, which is embedded on the intertropical convergence zone, at 115 kilometers south-southwest of Puerto Princesa City yesterday afternoon.
Another LPA, which entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility yesterday, was estimated at 980 kms east-southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides over low-lying and mountainous areas, especially in Palawan, Eastern Visayas, and Mindanao, due to the brewing tropical cyclones.
Palawan will experience cloudy skies with moderate to occasional heavy rains and thunderstorms.
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be felt in Eastern Visayas and Mindanao.
PAGASA said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
It noted that two tropical cyclones may affect the country this June, with a possibility of making landfall over Northern or Central Luzon.
