Piolo Pascual is grateful having been picked as regular cast member of the ABS-CBN show, “Home Sweetie Home.”
According to the actor, being part of the show is a boon inasmuch as it allows him a bit of respite from the usual drama-heavy assignments.
“Raket itong ‘Home Sweetie.’ I get to channel the comedic side of me. Dito sa ‘Home Sweetie,’ mas nakaka-relax ako,” he told ABS-CBN News in an interview.
He added, “Thankful ako because I’ve always wanted to do something like this, something na I enjoy doing.”
Many thought Piolo was cast on the show as replacement for John Lloyd Cruz, particularly after the latter filed an indefinite leave from showbiz work.
But Piolo made clear, “I’m not replacing (him) to say the least. I’m an addition to the cast.”
Asked if he thinks John Lloyd would be returning to the show anytime soon, he said, “I have no idea. I don’t have any news about him personally.”
“We don’t stay in touch anymore,” he added. “I wish, I hope we get to talk soon. Lloydie will always be a friend.
He’s a brother. We started at the same time in this business. He will always be family. Hindi na mawawala iyon.”
Piolo divulged he sent a message to John Lloyd about being cast on the show as a matter of respect. He didn’t receive a reply, though.
“I guess he changed numbers, pero nagpasintabi tayo,” he said.
As of the moment, Piolo is currently juggling three shows on ABS-CBN.
Apart from “Home Sweetie Home,” he is also doing “Since I Found You” which airs Monday to Friday, and “ASAP,” which airs every Sunday.
With the three shows now allowing him maximum TV visibility, many say John Lloyd’s loss is Piolo’s gain. But is it, really?
Piolo himself was quick to downplay the matter.
“Hindi ko naman sinasadya. Hindi ko naman hiningi iyon eh,” he said.
