Police shot dead two suspected drug pushers in separate buy-bust operations in Quezon and Batangas provinces, the Calabarzon Police Regional Office (PRO-4A) disclosed on Friday.
Reports reaching Chief Supt. Edward Carranza, regional director of the PNP PRO-4A, identified the slain suspects as Jerry Casimiro alias Otoy, about 39 to 40 years old; and one alias Lando.
Casimiro died after he allegedly resisted arrest and fired at elements of Quezon Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) and Lucena City Police Station (CPS) in a buy-bust operation along Feeder Road, Barangay Ilayang Dupay, Lucena, Quezon. Meanwhile, Lando was gunned down by police when he also allegedly resisted arrest in a buy-bust operation at Barangay Aya, San Jose, Batangas around 11 p.m. Friday.
Police Officer 3 Edwin Vivas, one of the operating troops of San Jose Municipal Police Station (MPS), said Lando suddenly ran away while transacting with an undercover agent.
Lando then started firing shots at the pursuing lawmen but they retaliated and hit him in the body multiple times, which killed him instantly, police said in their report.
