Reigning Beach Volleyball Republic women’s titlists Lot Catubag and Karen Quilario stand at the forefront of the local charge in the CEZA and First Cagayan present BVR International Santa Ana Open that gets going today.
The Davaoeña pair is determined to hold their ground in the two-day spectacle spiced up the presence of two Singapore tandems and a Hong Kong duo who will all vie for the crown in the eight-team women’s field.
Meanwhile, there will be 10 teams seeing action in the men’s division, some of them coming from Singapore, Malaysia and South Africa.
The tourney will mark the fourth time that the BVR will be held in the scenic Santa Ana town in the northernmost part of the country-and the second to host an international beach volleyball event.
A total prize money of $19,000 prize is at stake in the event.
