Filipino fighter Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon gets a chance to boost his title credentials as he takes on Australian counterpart Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen for the ONE interim bantamweight world championship belt in the ONE: Reign of Kings on July 27 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Belingon, 30, is coming off a sensational second-round technical knockout victory over former world title challenger Andrew Leone last April and a strong follow-up over Nguyen will earn him a coveted title shot against current division kingpin Bibiano Fernandes, who is still recovering from an injury.
“As one of the top bantamweights in ONE Championship, I am willing to take on all comers. It doesn’t matter to me who my opponent is,” said the Team Lakay star who currently sports an 18-5 win-loss record.
“In fact, I am honored to face Martin Nguyen, a two-division world champion. If I can beat Martin, it would be huge. This is a great position I am in, and I am excited for this bout. It will be action-packed, for sure.”
