Severe tropical storm “Domeng” has intensified into a typhoon and may continue to induce monsoon rains over western Luzon early this week.
Domeng has left the country’s area of responsibility yesterday morning, but the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration advised the public to remain on alert for possible flash floods or landslides over low-lying or mountainous areas in western Luzon due to continuous monsoon rains.
Domeng before noon yesterday was 1,045 kilometers east-northeast of Basco, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 145 kph, moving away from the Philippines northeast at 37 kph.
PAGASA said Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience light to moderate to at times heavy monsoon rains while Visayas will experience light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers will be felt in Mindanao due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA said sea travel remains risky over northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon, including the seaboards of Central Luzon, and western and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon. (Ellalyn V. Ruiz)
