Opposition Sen. Antonio F. Trillanes IV would likely get shot due to his arrogance someday, President Duterte warned recently.
The President did not mince words about Trillanes, believing the former rebel soldier was “ordinary” but acts tough and belligerent when no one challenges him.
“This person meanwhile is just ordinary. You know how politicians are. Trillanes is always trying to act tough and threatening and thinks he’s better than he is,” Duterte said in Bisaya before an assembly of barangay officials in Cebu last Thursday.
“He’s always calling for a fight. He believes that he’s the only tough one around because nobody fought him back. But there will come a day that someone will shoot him because he’s arrogant,” he added.
Duterte claimed that no one believes Trillanes anymore given his combative behavior. “He feels confident because he’s from the Armed Forces, the Navy. But who would believe him? He likes to fight a lot. He was part of the Magdalo before and was pardoned by Aquino. Now look what happened,” he said.
The President made the remarks after Trillanes faced a complaint from Labor Undersecretary Jacinto Paras over alleged grave threats. (Genalyn D. Kabiling)
