The weather is seen to improve over the next few days in Metro Manila, including Southern Luzon and Western Visayas, but monsoon rains will persist in Northern and Central Luzon.
According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio, Metro Manila, Southern Luzon, and Western Visayas will experience improving weather with “less intense” rains as early as today.
However, typhoon “Domeng” (international name “Maliksi”) will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon or “habagat” even though it has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility last Sunday.
Aurelio said most parts of Northern and Central Luzon could still experience monsoon rains in the next few days, as Domeng continues to trigger monsoon rains over the country. He added that the typhoon is already east of Japan but is still enhancing the southwest monsoon.
PAGASA advised residents living in low-lying areas or near mountainous slopes to be on alert against possible flash floods and landslides.
Due to the surge of amihan, a gale warning remains in effect as rough to very rough seas is expected over the coastlines of Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Isabela, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Mindoro, Batangas, Palawan, Marinduque, and Romblon.
PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small sea crafts not to set sail into the sea, while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.
