Buboy Fernandez, whose voice Manny Pacquiao will hear next month in Malaysia, swears two sparmates have developed an aversion towards the Filipino legend.
“Nagka-phobia na,” Fernandez told the Bulletin-Tempo yesterday afternoon from General Santos City.
A third, Australian George Kambosos, have opted to assume the role of counter-puncher obviously to avoid getting hit as often as the two Filipino sparmates.
“Iyong isa kahit nakatayo, knockout eh,” added Fernandez, who was promoted as lead cornerman in the absence of Freddie Roach.
News of Pacquiao’s show of force in General Santos City bodes well when he challenges Lucas Matthysse of Argentina at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur next month.
“Right now we are at 80 percent,” said Fernandez, who bears the brunt of Pacquiao’s power shots during training day.
Pacquiao took a rare break from training yesterday as he traveled to Manila to preside over the opening of the fast-growing MPBL.
But the 39-year-old Pacquiao is expected to be back today for “ten rounds of sparring.”
Aside from Fernandez, also providing help in Pacquiao’s training is the group of Nonoy Neri.
Team Pacquiao is scheduled to leave for KL from General Santos City on July 9 on board a chartered Philippine Airlines jet.
