Some P22 million worth of seized counterfeit cigarettes, bags, shoes, and beauty products were destroyed at Manila International Container Port (MICP) yesterday.
Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña said the condemnation of the seized goods in the presence of the media will be a regular activity of the bureau in order to show the public that the seized goods are indeed being destroyed and not being “recycled.”
Condemnation of the goods will prevent it from being recycled and sold to the market.
“This will now be our regular destruction and will be witnessed by the media as well as other government agencies concerned,” Lapeña said.
