A drug surrenderee was killed in an alleged gunfight with police in Barangay Ususan, Taguig City on Monday.
Police identified the fatality as Jaime Centeno alias “Jimboy”, “Josh”, a resident NP Cruz St., Barangay Ususan, Taguig City.
Based on the report submitted to Taguig City police chief Senior Supt. Alexander Santos, the incident occurred at around 2 p.m. involving members of Taguig Police Community Precinct 6 (PCP 6).
Investigation showed that operatives of PCP 6 led by Chief Inspector Torres were conducting patrol along NP Cruz St. in Brgy. Ususan when they chanced upon the suspect standing in alley in front of a house.
As the patrolling policemen stopped in front of him, Centeno immediately ran and fired his firearm at the police officers. The cops chased him but he entered his house and jumped from the window into a river.
The policemen continued pursuing the suspect until he was cornered at house No. 115 on NP Cruz St.. He again fired shots at the police officers who retaliated and killed him on the spot.
Recovered from the encounter site was a .38-caliber revolver with fired bullets and live ammos, and a slug.
Records show that Centeno was a drug surrenderee who was included in the drug watchlist in May 2017.
