The vehicle allegedly used by the suspects in killing Trece Martires, Cavite Vice Mayor Alexander Lubigan was recovered by the police yesterday on a bridge in Maragondon town, approximately 26 kilometers from where the latter was ambushed.
Senior Inspector Rez Alovera, chief of Maragondon Municipal Police Station, said a metallic black-dark green Toyota Hilux was first discovered by a student on Mabacao-Pantihan Bridge at Barangay Tulay B around 6:55 a.m.
“Papasok na ‘yung estudyante sa eskwela tapos nakita niya ‘yung sasakyan na abandonado kaya tumawag siya ng barangay. Ang barangay naman ang nag-report sa amin,” said Alovera.
Alovera said the bridge is situated in a secluded area and not a major thoroughfare where only locals pass through the area.
Alovera said the vehicle, which has no plate number or conduction sticker, was lifted to Maragondon Municipal Police Station where it will be processed by the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO).
He added that they will coordinate with the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) to aid them in locating the identity of the owner of the pick-up truck.
It can be recalled that Lubigan was ambushed in front of Korean-Philippines Friendship Hospital along Trece-Indang Road in Barangay Luciano, Trece Martires City last July 7. He was on board his black Toyota Hilux. (Martin A. Sadongdong)
