Almost R7.5 million worth of suspected shabu and party drugs were seized from three alleged drug pushers during a buy-bust operation conducted by police in Quezon City, Wednesday night.
Anti-narcotics operatives of the Northern Police District (NPD) arrested Hazel Grace Lanugan, 21; Rafael Tadoran, 21; and Warren Calicdan, 34, all jobless residents of Quezon City.
The suspects admitted that they were supplying illegal drugs in Timog area in Quezon City where bars are located, said NPD director Chief Supt. Gregorio Lim.
A report reaching National Capital Region Police Office director Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar showed that a buy-bust operation was conducted inside a house on Tomas Morato Avenue in Barangay Obrero around 9:30 p.m.
Lim said the sting was launched after the team led by Senior Inspector Cecilio Tomas received information about the alleged illegal drug trade in the area.
Seized during the operation were 2,756 pieces of pills/tablet believed to be ecstacy with estimated street value of R4,685,200; 48 pieces of capsule believed to be ecstacy with estimated street value of R620,000; and 1,300 ml. of suspected liquid ecstacy placed in eight energy drink bottles worth R250,000; a pack of suspected shabu weighing 100 grams worth around R680,000, six liters of suspected liquid ecstacy placed in white container with street value of R1,200,000; and the buy-bust money worth of R3,000.
During interrogation, suspects told police that the illegal drugs came from abroad, Lim said.
Appropriate charges will be filed against the suspects before the Quezon City Prosecutors Office while the recovered evidence were brought to NPD headquarters for proper disposition. (Kate Louise Javier)
