The Muntinlupa Cagers streaked to their fourth win even as the Imus Bandera dealt the Makati Skyscrapers their first loss in the 2018 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup at the Imus City Sports Complex in Cavite.
The Cagers rode on the heroics of Allan Manghas, Felix Apreku and Chito Jaime for an 84-80 win over the Rizal Cruzaders while the Bandera stunned the Skyscrapers, 79- 76.
Mangahas collected 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Apreku and Jaime conspired for 29 points and 31 boards as the Cagers remained one of the two unbeaten teams in the league.
The Crusaders fell to their fifth loss in six outings.
The Bandera, meanwhile, finally snapped their three-game losing skein by taking advantage of the absence of the Skyscrapers’ top scorer Philip Paniamogan, who signed up for NLEX in the PBA.
Chester Melencio led the Bandera with 16 points, while James Castro and Genmar Bragais finished with identical 12 points, and John Paul Manansala added 10 points.
