Brace for more downpour as the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” enhanced by two tropical cyclones, will continue to affect the whole country in the next few days.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration weather specialist Shelly Ignacio said tropical storm ‘Karding’ (international name “Yagi”) has left the country’s area of responsibility yesterday but will continue to stir up the southwest monsoon.
Yagi was spotted at 905 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes before noon yesterday.
A tropical depression at 1,030 kilometers west of extreme Northern Luzon or outside the country’s area of responsibility is also enhancing the habagat. This weather disturbance is not expected to enter the country.
PAGASA said scattered to widespread monsoon rains will prevail over Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, and the western section of Southern Luzon today.
Moderate to at times heavy rains are expected over Metro Manila, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Rizal.
Bicol region, Western and Eastern Visayas, and Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.
Mindanao and the rest of Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms.
