The Philippine National Police (PNP) vowed yesterday to improve its intelligence-monitoring following the entry of allegedly more than a ton of shabu in the country, part of it was seized inside the compound of the Bureau of Customs last week.
PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said the PNP has an equal share of responsibility in monitoring the entry and distribution of illegal drugs in the country, being one of the key players on President Duterte’s relentless and chilling campaign against illegal drugs.
“We all have equal shares here in intelligence buildup. It’s not only left for the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to do the intelligence buildup but probably with the National Bureau of Investigation and the PNP,” said Albayalde.
“We have PDEG (PNP-Drug Enforcement Group) and we are now looking on how we can still improve our intelligence monitoring especially on big time shipment,” he added.
The ton of shabu was reportedly stuffed inside four magnetic lifters which were tracked down in Cavite. During the raid, the magnetic lifters were already empty.
