MANNY Pacquiao has a chilling message to Floyd Mayweather: You can run but you can’t hide.
As both camps burn the midnight oil in getting a deal in place for a rematch being eyed for Dec. 8, Pacquiao expressed to a handful of beat writers early Tuesday morning that he is drooling over the prospects of getting a chance to get even with the brash and unbeaten American fighter.
“Tingnan natin paano nya i-occupy ang apat na corner ng ring,” said Pacquiao, making the assurance that he will force Mayweather to work every second of the round.
Last Saturday in Tokyo, Pacquiao and Mayweather ran into each other during a music festival and the trash-talking Mayweather took the opportunity to diss the Filipino legend.
“He kept on saying ‘easy fight’,” said Pacquiao, whose eyes lit up when asked to narrate what happened during his run-in with Mayweather.
Pacquiao, who turns 41 on Dec. 17, observed that Mayweather was in his element during the meetup and the Michigan-born 1996 Atlanta Olympian looked serious in challenging him to a second meeting that will likely take place in boxing’s biggest stage, Las Vegas.
“We’ll be finalizing this week,” said Pacquiao, who plans to kick off the pre-conditioning phase of his preparation by doing morning roadwork next week.
Pacquiao beat up Lucas Matthysse of Argentina in his last fight last July in Kuala Lumpur.
Mayweather, 41, stopped MMA specialist Conor McGregor in August last year.
