The Davao Occidental Tigers and the Parañaque Patriots trounced their respective rivals on Saturday in the 2018 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup at the Caloocan Sports Complex.
The Tigers banked on a strong first quarter to rout the Caloocan Longrich, 86-70, while the Patriots held the Zamboanga Valientes to only nine points in the fourth quarter en route to their 68-58 triumph.
Mark Yee exploded with 33 points on a 10-of-14 shooting from the field and hauled down 10 boards for the Tigers, who clinched their seventh win in 10 games. Leo Najorda added 15 points while Bonbon Custodio chipped in 10 points and 12 assists.
The Patriots, meanwhile, evened their tally to 5-5 from the combined 32-point effort of John Abu Ambuludto, Mac Montilla and Ivan Villanueva.
The Longrich and the Valientes dropped to 2-8 and 4-5, respectively. (Kristel Satumbaga)
