The Batangas City Athletics and the GenSan Warriors scored contrasting victories on Thursday in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup at the Lagao gym in General Santos City.
The Athletics dealt the Muntinlupa Cagers their second straight loss after an eight game winning run with an 82-71 victory while the Warriors bested the Laguna Heroes, 69-66.
Dennice Villamor and Moncrief Rogado combined for 29 points and 13 boards for the Athletics, who evened their win-loss record to 6-6.
The Warriors, meanwhile, improved to 5-6 with John Orbeta scoring 18 points and grabbing 14 rebounds against the Heroes.
After winning four in a row, the Heroes had lost their last two games and fell to 6-6 despite Denok Miranda firing 22 points and Michael Mabulac posting 11 points and 11 boards.
