San Sebastian ended its season campaign with a bang by crushing Arellano University, 91-63, in the NCAA men’s basketball at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Stags made a fitting sendoff to their graduating students Michael Calisaan, Kevin Baytan and Ian Valdez as they overpowered the Chiefs in the last three quarters after trailing 18-14 in the opening period.
Calisaan ended his tour of duty for SSC with 24 points aside from posting 12 boards and three assists. Baytan and Valdez had eight and four points.
San Sebastian struck hardest in the second period as it outscored Arellano, 35-12, to take the 49-30 lead at the half before Calisaan drained 14 points in the third that set the tone for the Stags.
RK Ilagan had 13 points, six boards and five assists while Allyn Bulanadi added 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The Stags finished the season with six wins and 12 losses, a far cry from their 9-9 finish last year. Two of their defeats were due to forfeiture after Ilagan was caught playing at an unsanctioned league even after confirming his eligibility for the season.
Arellano, likewise, failed to eclipse its 9-9 finish last year after ending the season with five victories against 13 defeats.
