Xavier School and De La Salle-Zobel emerged triumphant in the recent Breakdown Basketball Invitational at the Moro Lorenzo Sports Center inside the Ateneo de Manila campus.
Getting inspired performances from Peeco Napenas, John Durante and Keith Wongchuking, the Xavier Golden Stallions outlasted La Salle Antipolo, 97-85, in the 11-Under division for their second title in two days.
Overall, the title win was Xavier’s third counting its victories in the City Hoops last Saturday and PAYA a week ago.
Napenas struck hardest for Xavier with 30 points aside from posting six rebounds and the same number of assists while Durante added 17.
Wongchuking, the most consistent in the elims, was a joy to watch as he finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
The Junior Archers, on the other hand, drew big games from Kiefer Alas and Champ Arejola to rout San Benildo, 78-60.
The youngest son of Phoenix coach Louie Alas erupted for 33 points on top of 9 rebounds and four assists.
Son of PBA’s NorthPort Governor Erick Arejola, Champ produced 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
