DAVAO CITY – The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the Department of Education (DepEd) announced their collaboration to strengthen the country’s grassroots sports program through a two-day national sports strategic planning session at The Pinnacle Hotel and Suites here.
The workshop, which ended on Wednesday, is aimed at coming up with more solid plans for a more effective talent-identification program.
“This milestone partnership will enlighten the critical question of where the country is right now in terms of sports,” said PSC chairman Butch Ramirez.
The collaboration of the two government agencies is also geared towards fulfilling President Duterte’s vision of making sports accessible to the community while bolstering the pool of local talents around the country.
One area that both the PSC and the DepEd are planning is to come up with a list of focus sports that will be played from division-level tournaments up to the national level like the Palarong Pambansa, Philippine National Games and Batang Pinoy. (Kristel Satumbaga)
