The Davao Occidental Tigers cruised to their eighth straight win while the San Juan Knights ended a four-game loss on Saturday in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Tigers trounced the Navotas Clutch, 72-69, to improve their tally to 10-3 while the Knights returned to the winning column with a 71-62 triumph over the Cebu City Sharks.
Leo Najorda and Bogs Raymundo paced the Tigers with 17 and 10 points even as Mark Yee took charge of the paint with 12 rebounds while contributing six points and four assists. Bonbon Custodio also helped with 10 points, five boards and seven assists.
The Knights, meanwhile, outscored the Sharks, 28-13, in the second quarter to pull away from a close 15-14 first-quarter edge to 43-27 at halftime and dictate the pace throughout.
Larry Muyang pumped in 12 points and 12 boards for the Knights even as Aaron Jeruta, Ryan Michael Ayon Ayon and Mark Cardona merged for 36 points.
The Knights clinched their 11th win in 14 games while snapping the Sharks’s four-game winning streak to drop at 5-9. The Clutch slipped to 5-8.
