THE Quezon City police released Sunday the facial composite sketch of the gunman in the assassination attempt on Police Superintendent Edgardo Cariaso in Barangay Tatalon last November 8.
In the illustration released by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the male suspect in the attack on 52-year-old Cariaso was described to be in his 30s, about 5’5″ in height, medium built, and with brown skin complexion.
Police report showed that at past 7 p.m., November 8, Cariaso had just alighted from his green Honda CRV vehicle with plate number WFK-882 when the suspect appeared.
While the victim was conversing with his friend in front of a pizza stall at the corner of Kaliraya Street and Cluster 14 in Barangay Tatalon, the suspect pulled out his handgun and repeatedly shot him.
Cariaso was hit by a bullet in his right ear that exited through his left face.
The suspect then walked away from the scene and immediately boarded a getaway motorcycle driven by his companion.
The victim’s wife and neighbors rushed Cariaso to the hospital where he was treated.
Cariaso is assigned to the Philippine National Police Internal Affairs Service (PNP-IAS) in Camp Crame.
Prior to the attack on Cariaso, a police officer identified as PO3 Rufino Gabis was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding men at the corner of V. Luna Avenue and Kalayaan Avenue, a kilometer away from QCPD headquarters where he was assigned. (Alexandria San Juan)
