San Beda rolled to its second straight win yesterday with a 30-28, 25-17, 25-14 triumph over Mapua in NCAA women’s volleyball at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Lady Red Spikers survived an extended first set before dominating the Lady Cardinals in the next two frames in a big follow up to their opening-game victory over the defending champion University of Perpetual Help Lady Altas.
Nieza Viray and Sattriani Espiritu scored 14 points each as San Beda finished with 5151 kills in the 76-minute match. Skipper Ces Racraquin also stepped up with 13 points, including 11 in hits.
It was a double celebration for San Bede as the Red Lions downed the Cardinals, 20-25, 25-16, 25-20, 22-25, 15-5.
Jeffrey Losa pumped in 23 points, 21 coming from attacks, as the Red Lions quickly recovered from a fourth-set stumble to dominate the deciding fifth frame with sharp kills and solid blocks. (Kristel Satumbaga)
