A TURKISH who went viral for assaulting a traffic enforcer in Makati was arrested Friday by Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents for overstaying and undesirability.
Yuksel Ibrahim, 24, went viral on social media for evading a traffic violation last November 22.
He reportedly hit enforcer Michael Orcino’s arm as the latter was directing traffic in the middle of the street, and sped off when flagged down.
He was likewise unable to present a driver’s license, and was arrested for allegedly physically assaulting Orcino.
Ibrahim was released yesterday by Makati Police after posting bail but was immediately arrested by BI’s intelligence agents for his immigration violations.
BI Intelligence chief Fortunato Manahan, Jr. said that upon investigation “we found out that he is already overstaying, and his blatant disregard for the law and disrespect for law enforcers show that he is an undesirable,” adding that the alien was engaged in gainful operations without a proper visa.
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente reiterated his warning against illegal and undesirable alien to “respect our laws, or suffer the consequences.”
Ibrahim is currently detained at the BI Detention Center in Bicutan, Taguig City, pending his deportation. (Jun Ramirez)
