San Sebastian resumed its men’s title bid by besting Jose Rizal University, 25-22, 27-25, 25-15, yesterday in NCAA volleyball at The Arena in San Juan City.
Robbie Pamittan and Timothy Eusebio took charge of the Stags’ offense by combining for 22 kills to finish with 16 and 12 points as they dominated the Bombers in just 65 minutes.
Pamittan also had nine digs.
It was San Sebastian’s third win in six matches to jump at solo third even as Emilio Aguinaldo College (3-2) and Mapua (2-3) were still battling at press time.
The Stags exploited the Bombers’ weak plays by overpowering them in attacks (41-28) with Elino Lazaro spearheading the assault by distributing the ball well to finish with 23 excellent sets.
Only Hernan Salazar scored in double figures for JRU with 10 points as his teammates struggled to find their strength.
The Bombers absorbed their second straight defeat to drop to 2-4.
San Sebastian also dominated JRU in juniors play with a 25-20, 25-17, 25-21 triumph to notch its second win against four losses.
Bradley Dumalagan and Karl Lastimosa led the Junior Stags with 11 points apiece even as John Mark Lim added 10 points.
The Junior Bombers fell to 3-4.
