The much-awaited World Slasher Cup 9 -Cock Invitational Derby sizzled on with a formidable cast of more than 300 aces at the historic Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Some of the world’s famous cockfighting aficionados come face to face today for the traditional “pitting of the birds” at the Novotel Hotel Araneta Center Cubao, Quezon City.
Pit Games Media CEO Manny Berbano said the real action sizzles will be held on from Jan. 28-30 for the 2-cock elimis then the 2-cock semis on Jan. 31 to Feb. 1 followed by the 3-cock finals on Feb. 3 and 4.
The first two days of the finals will be held on Feb. 3 and 4 then the grand finale on Feb. 6.
Supported by Excellence Poultry and Livestock Specialists, the nine -day international cockfest headed by Pintakasi of Champions lured the toughest derby champions to date.
Cockfight idol Patrick Antonio, the defending champion with 8.5 points, will shoot for his eighth WSC title.
The participants include past champions of WSC: Biboy Enriquez of Excellence, Nene Araneta, Ray Alexander of Alabama, Rey Briones, Dicky Lim, Joey Sy, Ed Aparri, Art de Castro, Doc Ayong Lorenzo, Boy Marzo, Frank Berin, Dante Eslabon, Escolin Brothers, Rikki Reyes, Magno Lim, Peping Ricafort, Boy de Roca, Honey Yu, Noel Jarin and Joey delos Santos with American partner Bruce Brown of California.
Challenge will come from foreigners Marty Bently of Ohio, Erik Rosales, Robert Dominguez and Bruce Brown of California, Butch Cambra of Hawaii, Nathan Jumper of Mississipi, Tim Fitzgerald of Utah, Bobby Fairchild of Kentucky, Brent Douglas of Black Bonanza fame and Ernest Atkins of Tennessee.
