CEBU CITY – The boyfriend of the 19-year-old woman who died of suspected party drug overdose has been uncooperative in the investigation, police said.
Chief Supt. Debold Sinas, chief of the Philippine National Police Regional Office 7 (Central Visayas), said investigators have invited Ashley Abad’s boyfriend to help shed light on the incident but the man did not show up in the police station.
“If he won’t cooperate, it’s up to him. But why is he not cooperating if he’s not hiding something,” said Sinas.
Abad’s family has agreed to have her body autopsied to determine the cause of death.
“We are gathering affidavits and we are waiting for the results of the autopsy. The boyfriend is already a person of interest but later on, we will consider him a suspect,” said Sinas.
Sinas said the boyfriend is aware of the reports that the victim died because of supposed party drug overdose. “He knows about this ecstasy thing,” Sinas said.
Aside from the boyfriend, three other persons have been considered as persons of interest. Sinas refused to identify the persons of interest.
The name of Abad’s boyfriend has been withheld pending his comment on the issue and formal filing of charges.
