The Batangas City Athletics and the Caloocan Supremos bounced back from recent defeats Thursday in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup at the Caloocan Sports Complex.
The Athletics prevailed over the Pasig Pirates, 69-62, to jump at solo second in the South Division while the Supremos downed the Marikina Shoemasters, 94-91, to enter into the Top 8 of the North Division.
Val Acuna finished with 15 points while Jhaymo Eguilos had 12 points and 12 rebounds to pace the Athletics to their 13th victory against nine losses.
Almond Vosotros, meanwhile, pumped in 31 points, five rebounds and six assists for the Supremos, who improved to 9-14.
Caloocan relied on its hot three-point shooting where it drained 12 triples including six from Vosotros.
Pasig dug deeper in the North Division cellar by absorbing its fourth consecutive defeat for 3-18 while Marikina skidded to 7-13 despite the efforts of Yves Sazon, Jay-Ar Ng Sang and actor Gerald Anderson, who combined for 50 points.
