DAVAO CITY – A Bureau of Jail Management and Penology officer was found positive for using illegal drugs during the surprise inspection and random drug testing inside the Davao City Jail the other day.
The Davao City Police Office identified the BJMP officer as Jail Chief Insp. Roman Hernandez, Davao del Sur provincial jail administrator.
Reports said Hernandez, along with other BJMP personnel, were subjected to drug test around 3 a.m. last Saturday after information was received that some from their ranks are involved in illegal drug activities.
Hernandez is now under the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 11. It has prepared the charges that would be filed against the erring government personnel.
Hours later, at around 10:30 a.m., four inmates were killed after resisting the conduct of “Operation: Greyhound” in their detention cell.
Killed were Alvin Celis, Dexter Delfino, Flor Leonard Restsuro, and Jerry Fernandez. (Armando Fenequito Jr.)
