A 60-year-old man was found dead hanging inside a public cemetery in Manila Monday morning.
Police identified the victim as Jose Santander who last resided at Section 5A of the Manila South Cemetery.
Police said the relative of Santander, Rosenda Castro, discovered his body hanging from the steel of fence of a mausoleum located behind the graveyard’s administrative office at about 6:10 a.m. He was naked and in bended sitting position.
Castro immediately sought help from authorities.
Further investigation revealed that the victim used a green plastic cord in hanging himself, police said.
It was learned that prior to the incident, Santender already attempted to commit suicide at about 9:30 p.m. on Mar. 3, but he was prevented by his kin, Minda Pasana.
The victim’s body was brought to Archangel funeral parlor for autopsy and safekeeping. (Ria Fernandez)
