Weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz is hell-bent on booking another trip to the Olympics that she’s enduring training alone in the mountains of China.
Though she practically has no social life there, Diaz appears to be happy.
“The environment is good and food is good also,” said Diaz. “I’m at the mountains, so there’s really no temptation like junk foods and social life. It’s just me, my coach plus two personnel from the PSC.”
The Wushishan Sports Training Center is located in the mountain that is two hours away from Sanya and three hours away from Hainan.
Diaz, however, can only advance outright to the world’s biggest sporting extravaganza if she makes it inside the top five in the 2019 Asian Weightlifting Championship which is the qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Then if she can replicate her gold medal winning effort in the Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia last year, Diaz sees no problem earning a second straight Olympic berth.
