Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) president Tom Carrasco said Thursday that the federation is looking at a maximum of 16 athletes who will make up the Philippine triathlon and duathlon teams in the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games which the country is hosting late this year.
Carrasco said the medalists in the last two SEA Games are already seeded in national team training pool, including Nikko Huelgas, John Chicano, Kim Mangrobang, and Claire Adorna.
“We have selected them already,” said Carrasco.
Carrasco said that a total of six gold medals are at stake in the SEA Games set November to Dec. 11, three each for triathlon and duathlon, and that the country is capable of winning four – all in the individual events.
The triathlon event will have men’s and women’s individual and mixed category, and duathlon will also have the same divisions of men’s, women’s and mixed in the SEA Games.
