Fresh from beating up Mikey Garcia over the weekend in Dallas, Errol Spence has been doing the rounds of US media outlets and expressing his desire to take on Manny Pacquiao next.
Appearing on Fox Sports’ Undisputed, Spence, who carved out a lopsided 12-round unanimous decision win over Mikey Garcia to keep his International Boxing Federation (IBF) 147-lb crown, told Skip Bayless of his willingness to meet Pacquiao, the World Boxing Association champion.
“I feel like he is a great fighter, it’s going to be competitive because Pacquiao has heart, he is a warrior, he is a guy that’s going to give it his all and he’s not scared of anyone, it’s going to be a tough fight he is not just going to lay down,’” said Spence.
Reminded that Spence, 29, is fighting somebody who is eleven years his senior, the unbeaten American knockout artist insists that he won’t show any mercy if the fight happens.
“No, my motto is man down,” Spence said.
Armed with a 25-0 with 21 KOs, Spence was born in New York but grew up in Dallas and is looking forward to doing his next fight – possibly against Pacquiao – before an expected mammoth crowd at the AT&T Stadium.
Pacquiao, who mauled Adrien Broner last January in Las Vegas, is cool to the idea of testing Spence, adding that he wasn’t awed by the IBF titleholder’s supposed punching power.
