The live-in partner of the woman killed in a hit-and-run accident in Pasig City last Tuesday has vowed to seek justice against the driver of the car sedan caught on video hitting the motorcycle they were riding on.
A day after Rosanna Ugto died in the hospital, Mark Joseph Belen posted on his Facebook account his sentiments about the incident.
“LALUVS (Ugto), mahal na mahal kita. Bakit mo kami iniwan? Ang babata pa ng anak natin,” Belen wrote. “LALUVS, pangako ko sayo di ko pababayaan ‘yung mga anak natin. LALUVS, PINAPANGAKO KO SAYO MABUBULOK SA KULUNGAN ANG MY GAWA SAYO NYAN. LALUVS, MAHAL NA MAHAL KA NAMIN.”

Adrian Russel King Carlos, the 29-year-old suspect, surrendered Saturday and was placed in detention at the Pasig police while awaiting resolution of the case.
Carlos has been charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, serious physical injury, and damage to property.
“We are waiting for the resolution of the case which will possibly released on Monday,” said Pelagio Lawrence Cuison, the suspect’s legal counsel.
In Saturday’s press conference, Cuison said Carlos was unaware of the incident that took place on Marcos Highway.
“He only knew the day after,” said Cuison. “When the video was already in the news and Carlos saw what he believed was his car, that was the time he thought he was involved in the accident.”
Cuison denied allegations that Carlos was under the influence of illegal drugs at the time of the incident.
Police Col. Rizalito Gapas, Pasig police chief, confirmed that Carlos over the weekend was detained at the police station.
The suspect’s vehicle, a Honda Accord with license plates ZNC-108, has been turned over to the police station. “The vehicle has multiple scratches and it’s now part of the evidence,” Gapas said.
Gapas said they will submit a report to the Land Transportation Office which will decide whether to revoke the driver’s license of the suspect. “They have their own policy regarding this kind of incident. They will be the one to decide whether the license of Carlos will be revoked or not,” Gapas said.
Police offered little details about the suspect except that he’s a 29-year-old farm manager.
Cuison, however, confirmed that Carlos is the son of a Marikina City councilor seeking re-election, but did not provide the name. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas)
