Ateneo tightened its grip on top spot after blasting Far Eastern University (FEU), 25-21, 25-10, 25-18, Wednesday in UAAP women’s volleyball at The Arena in San Juan City.
With Ponggay Gaston and Kat Tolentino joining forces, the Lady Eagles dispatched the Lady Tamaraws in just 69 minutes on the way to their ninth straight victory in 10 games.
Gaston and Tolentino paced Ateneo with 11 points each including combined 18 kills and four blocks.
So tough was Ateneo’s defense that the Lady Tamaraws were held to just 27 kills. None from the FEU side scored in double figures.
Deanna Wong also proved instrumental in the Lady Eagles’ offense by finishing with 30 excellent sets. (Kristel Satumbaga)
