After a grueling start to 2019, Team Lakay finally gets a chance to breathe.
The fabled stable from Baguio City immediately went to Bataan for rest and recreation after ONE: ROOTS OF HONOR last Friday, 12 April at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.
It was a celebration of sorts for Team Lakay especially after Joshua “The Passion” Pacio reclaimed the ONE Strawweight World Title from Yosuke “The Ninja” Saruta. Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly’s TKO win on the same event over Sung Jong Lee only made things sweeter.
But win or lose, the team was always going to get their break as the idea came from Kelly who holds a residence in Mariveles, Bataan.
“Our plan is for the team to drop by Bataan in Five Fingers in Mariveles after the fights,” said Kelly.
“We went swimming and had team building. It was an outdoor trip,” he added.
The rest was well worth it, particularly for Kelly and Pacio who already battled twice in the last four months.
Pacio was admittedly still sore from his battle with Saruta, forcing him to miss out on a couple of exciting things. But he was happy nonetheless.
“I went swimming, but I did not get to go cliff diving, that would have been fun,” said Pacio.
“After this, it’s back to training.”
