No Filipinos were reported killed or injured in the series of deadly Easter Sunday explosions that rocked Sri Lanka, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Sunday night.
Quoting reports from the Philippine Embassy in neighboring Bangladesh, the DFA said Ambassador to Dhaka Vivencio Bandillo has contacted Philippine Honorary Consul to Colombo Hugh Sriyal Dissanayake who informed them that they are in touch with the Filipino community in the area.
“The community leaders reported that so far, there has been no report of any Filipino hurt in the explosions,” the DFA said.
Bandillo said the Embassy continues to monitor the situation and is ready to provide assistance if needed. (Roy Mabasa)
