Two alleged robbers were killed in an encounter with cops after they tried to rape a woman they abducted and held up inside a taxi in Quezon City before dawn Thursday.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) investigators said they have yet to establish the identities of the slain suspects described as in their mid 30s.
A report from QCPD-Batasan Police Station (PS-6) showed that a taxi driver tipped off authorities about four suspicious men inside a taxi parked at the corner of Leyte Street and Payatas Road in Barangay Payatas B around 3 a.m.
PS-6 operatives immediately went to the area where they saw the white cab on a dimly lit portion of the street.
When the police were about to approach the group, two men at the backseat alighted and suddenly fired shots at them.
The officers immediately retaliated, killing the two suspects on the spot.
During the exchange of fires, the suspects’ two other cohorts were able to run and escape from the scene.
When officers inspected the crime scene, a naked woman was found inside the taxi who claimed that the men were about to rape her.
According to the 34-year-old waitress, she was walking along Luzviminda Street in Barangay Batasan Hills around 2 a.m. when four men onboard a taxi forcibly took her and robbed her of P3,000 cash and mobile phone worth P14,000.
Not contented, the victim said the suspects started to undress her while inside the cab.
Police recovered from the scene the victim’s phone and the taxi bearing plate number VFK-686 which authorities believed to have been stolen.
Also seized from the slain suspects were two .38-caliber revolvers with ammunition, a black sling bag containing three sachets of suspected shabu.
Investigation is ongoing to identify and arrest the other suspects who managed to flee. (Alexandria San Juan)
