The dry run of the provincial bus ban on EDSA was temporarily suspended by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority yesterday.
Jose Arturo Garcia, MMDA general manager, said it will be reimplemented once the MMDA, Department of Transportation, and Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board have finalized the guidelines and implementing rules.
“We will continue with the dry run once the guidelines and implementing rules have been ironed out by the three agencies involved – MMDA, DoTr, and LTFRB,” he said.
Garcia said the MMDA does not want the policy to be politicized at this time when politics is too dominant because of the upcoming elections.
The MMDA general manager clarified that the no loading and unloading ban for provincial buses on EDSA stays.
The MMDA began the strict implementation of the no loading and unloading policy for provincial buses on EDSA last April 22. The dry run of the provincial bus ban on EDSA also started on April 22.
During the dry run, MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago said they want to get feedback from the local governments where the new terminals are located – the Paranaque City Integrated Terminal Exchange, Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, and Valenzuela City. (Jel Santos)
